Everton left-back Luke Garbutt is the most likely player to sign for Leeds United next, according to Football Whispers.

The football news site claims that Garbutt, 25, is firmly in the running to switch to Elland Road this summer after failing to make a single senior appearance for the Toffees this season.

Statistics website Spotrac reports that the defender earns £28,000-a-week on his deal at Goodison Park, which still has another two years remaining on it.

And Football Whispers claims there is a strong change of him becoming the next signing for Leeds, rating there as being as 3.2 out of 5 chance of a deal happening.

The site gathers transfer rumours from across the world and rates them on the likelihood of happening, with a score of 5 out of 5 meaning that a deal is a certainty.

OPINION

Everton should really look to offload Garbutt this summer. He is 25-years-old and earns a pretty hefty wage for someone who is out of the first team picture and was forced to play Under-23s football all this season. Garbutt made 10 appearances in Premier League and scored three goals in the process. He is an attack-minded left-back who can also play on the left-wing and would be a handy addition for Leeds as they aim to challenge for a spot in the top six next season. The Whites already have Tom Pearce and Laurens De Bock at left-back, but Pearce’s future is yet to be confirmed as he is reported to be attracting attention from the Premier League with a new contract not yet made official by the club. Hopefully his future is sorted out when he returns from international duty with the England Under-21s, but that may not stop Premier League clubs from sniffing around. If he does go, or the new manager wants to get rid of De Bock, Garbutt would be a great replacement. However as it stands, the Whites do not need him.
