Everton and West Ham have tabled bids for Bestikas defender Domagoj Vida, according to Fanatik.

The Turkish news outlet claims that the two Premier League clubs have both offered £11.6million for Vida, 29, after he enjoyed a solid start to the World Cup with Croatia.

The defensive powerhouse, who is known for his brute strength and no-nonsense style of play, even kept what is arguably the world’s best player in Lionel Messi quiet earlier this week when Croatia thrashed Argentina 3-0.

Good move for Everton?

Vida is a decent defender and would definitely make a good addition to Marco Silva’s newly-inherited defence, which needs strengthening before next season starts.

The 29-year-old has been playing at a high level in Europe for most of his career and would certainly be able to adapt to Premier League life well.

He has proved in the World Cup that he will not buckle under the pressure of playing on the big stages and his ability to keep Sergio Aguero and Messi quiet should definitely be a reason as to why Everton would to well to snap him up.

A fee of £11.6million seems a pretty good deal for someone of his experience if Besiktas were to accept it.

Likely to happen?

It’s unlikely that Vida will want to think too much about his club career at the moment with Croatia progressing well in the World Cup.

His nation have already qualified for the next round thanks to good wins against Nigeria and Argentina, so any ideas of moving clubs this summer will more than likely be at the back of his mind at the moment.

Vida also only joined Besiktas in January, so they may want a higher fee in order to sell him on to Everton or West Ham.
