One of the biggest criticisms that Rangers fans hold over the head of former boss Pedro Caixinha was the way in which he shipped out a host of proven talent in place of a load of inexperienced foreign recruits.

Of course, the gamble from the Portuguese boss backfired and saw him sacked and very few of his signings making the grade at Ibrox, with many likely to find themselves shipped out just 12 months after signing.

Steven Gerrard is now the man in charge in the dugout and it is a much more exciting time, with some experienced names already through the door and many more likely to follow in their footsteps.

However, new arrivals means the need to ship some of the current stars out in a bid to make room and clear up the wage bill – and it seems Gerrard might have taken a leaf out of Caixinha’s book.

Twitter insider Four Lads Had a Dream, a reputable source covering the Light Blues, claim that the new man in charge has already told Andy Halliday and Jason Holt that they are deemed surplus to requirements after clubs came in asking about their availability, and that Lee Wallace could be next in the firing line.

Now Wallace is already in the middle of controversy at Ibrox – his case over his suspension for a dressing room bust-up last season still ongoing – and considering his lack of action last season, a groin injury leaving him sidelined, a future at the club seems unlikely.

He may be the club captain but his time as leader must now be over, along with the other two thrown on the proverbial scrapheap, in what is a changing of the guard at Ibrox.
