Rangers have been diving in and out of the transfer market this summer at breathtaking frequency but the one name that seems to have gone by the wayside and not been linked with the Light Blues is that of Bournemouth striker Lewis Grabban – a player who would be a perfect fit in Glasgow.

The hitman, now 30, was in rip-roaring form in the Championship last season where he spent the first part of the campaign on loan with Sunderland, the second with Aston Villa.

And now having returned to Premier League club Bournemouth and Villa unlikely to be able to afford a permanent deal for the goal machine, the Light Blues should step in and snap up a forward who can guarantee goals at Ibrox and fire Rangers to the top of the Scottish Premiership.

In a Black Cats side which was in the bottom three, Grabban bagged an impressive 12 goals in 20 games and continued that after Christmas under Steve Bruce where he was key to the Villains push into the play off final, notching up a further eight in 18 games.

The Bournemouth ace has shown that he can do it at the level required in the Scottish top flight but with the forward’s contract due to end next summer, a loan deal isn’t likely to be on the cards – the Cherries will want a fee for the forward or risk losing him for nothing next summer.

However, if a club the size of Rangers come calling, we reckon the lure of playing under Steven Gerrard will be too big a temptation and with a front two combination of Alfredo Morelos and Grabban, the Gers will be a force to be reckoned with.
