Stoke winger Xherdan Shaqiri has been linked with a move to Liverpool this summer, and his performance for Switzerland in the World Cup on Friday ( really got Reds supporters excited about a possible transfer on social media.
Liverpool are looking to mount a serious title challenge next season, and need back-up to star striker Mo Salah after a deal for Lyon forward Nabil Fekir fell through after the player failed his medical according to the Guardian.
Shaqiri was selected to join Switzerland at the World Cup this summer, and Liverpool fans were especially enamoured by his outstanding display against Serbia on 22 June after he scored a 90-minute winner for his country, with the score ending 2-1.
The 26-year-old wants to join a Premier League club after being relegated to the Championship with Stoke City, and as well as fans, Daily Mirror football correspondent David Maddock praised Shaqiri’s display on his personal Twitter account.
that's why @lfc see Xherdan Shaqiri as a decent back up to their front three…

The Swiss international who is being targetted by Liverpool has a £12 million release clause according to the Mirror, which is the same fee that the Potters paid Inter Milan for him two years ago.
When the news was first reported, Liverpool fans were not happy about the links, but now it appears that they have changed their minds and they are urging the club to sign Shaqiri after his match-winning performance against Serbia in the World Cup:
maybe he will not be a back up and fight mane or salah for a place??? who knows

Reninds me of Salah.. both were seen as serious talents.. Like Salah .. made his name at Basel- both were main men there.. Salah failed at Chelsea.. Shaq relegated last year…. under Klopp – who knows what the possibilities could be for Shaqiri..

Can't understand people unhappy with bringing him in. Especially for 12/13 mill.

Just like he did with Chamberlain,Klopp can take Shaqiri to the next level.
Liverpool had one of the poorest benches among the top teams in Europe.
Imagine what they could do with a stronger one!— Efiong Ephraim (@anfield4life) June 23, 2018
