Rangers are looking into the option of buying Nottingham Forest striker Jason Cummings permanently, but the two parties are miles apart in negotiations over the valuation of the forward according to an STV journalist.

Raman Bhardwaj, a reliable journalist for the media outlet also revealed on his personal Twitter account that the 22-year-old, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Ibrox, is keen on a move to the Scottish giants.

Following his return to the City Ground after his temporary spell in Glasgow ended it looked as though interest had died down as the Light Blues were linked with a host of names in the goal scoring position including Jack Marriott from Peterborough United but The Sun have reported that they were put off by his £5million fee.

Good move for Rangers?

Cummings showed under Graeme Murty last season that when given the opportunity he knew how to find the back of the net.

He has the right attitude and personality that although he is liked by the Gers masses could potentially make him a real fan favourite and Steven Gerrard will be looking to feed off these traits should they capture the Reds forward.

In ten Scottish Premiership outings, Cummings scored just one goal but in his defence, he did start on only two occasions – it was in the Scottish FA Cup where he was much more prolific, with four goals in three games.

Likely to happen?

The Light Blues forward position is one’s coming under intense scrutiny as due to Kenny Miller ’s recent departure from the club, it leaves only Alfredo Moreles as Steven Gerrard’s only real goal threat.

As long as Rangers can agree a fair fee with Nottingham Forest,  you would expect this deal to be made permanent in the next couple of weeks.
