With summer finally here, there will be much speculation over the centre forward options at Celtic.

Moussa Dembele, Leigh Griffiths and Odsonne Edouard have shared the striking responsibilities over the past 12 months, but only the Scottish hitman’s future seems crystal clear.

The former French forward has been heavily linked with a move away from Parkhead this summer after his dazzling form in the club’s first treble winning campaign, despite struggling to replicate the same level of performances in the season just gone.

Meanwhile the PSG loanee has still not committed his long-term future with the Hoops, having impressed during his temporary stay from the French giants, although it does seem there will some agreement made by the end of the summer.

Still, with injuries having played their part all too often, Brendan Rodgers is likely to be seeking another forward over the coming months, and it looks as though his hopes of making a record breaking swoop have been handed a huge boost.

Calcio Mercato have previously claimed that the Bhoys were willing to table a massive contract offer to Uruguay international Abel Hernandez as he prepares to leave Hull City on a free transfer, with the deal said to make him the highest paid player ever to play in Scotland.

Now, the Hull Daily Mail have been rounding up all the clubs who have been linked with the 27-year-old’s capture, and state that the forward would “jump at the chance” to move to a club like Newcastle United in the Premier League, with a desperation to be playing at a top level.

Of the names mentioned in the report, only one is playing at the highest possible level, and that is Celtic in the Champions League.

If Hernandez is happy to move to the Magpies, then the opportunity to dazzle on the European stage, not to mention the massive pay day, should be too much for the 29-cap star to turn down, and if the Bhoys do want him this summer, there should be no competition.

It is a big boost to the Hoops – now they just need to seal a deal.
