Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers us a “shock” target for the Leicester City managerial position should the Foxes sever ties with Claude Puel this summer, according to The Scottish Sun.

The newspaper claims that whilst the Frenchman remains at the helm at the Premier League club, the fact that results have been below par since he took over and suggestions of dressing room unrest, they could take drastic action and wield the axe once more.

It was only in the aftermath of Arsene Wenger announcing that he would be leaving Arsenal at the end of the season that Celtic senior man Rodgers was linked with the Gunners, but publicly declared on talkSPORT that he was happy at the Scottish champions.

The Northern Irishman has had a successful time since his arrival at Parkhead, picking up two trebles in two successive campaigns.

OPINION

Celtic fans do not need to worry about their manager upping and leaving for a position that is as unstable as the Leicester job is. Not only did they sack their title-winning manager Claudio Ranieri but their appointment prior to Puel of Craig Shakespeare did not last long either, which makes it highly unlikely that Rodgers would be tempted into leaving a job as stable as the one he has in Scotland. And that is on top of the fact that having been linked to the Arsenal hotseat before Unai Emery took charge of affairs he was not tempted by the appeal of joining one of the Premier League’s biggest teams – so why would he jump at the chance of joining Leicester when he potentially had the opportunity of  signing for the Gunners? It is simple, he will not, and he will still be at Celtic Park come the start of the new season.
