Rangers are in pole position to sign Liverpool attacker Ryan Kent on loan this summer, according to Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

The reliable journalist claimed via his personal Twitter account on Sunday that the 21-year-old, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Bristol City, could be set to reunite with Steven Gerrard at Ibrox.

Kent notched up two assists in his ten appearances for the Robins during his stint at Ashton Gate, that after a spell in the Bundesliga with Freiburg.

There is also interest in the Premier League club’s attacker from Leeds United, Blackburn Rovers and Wigan Athletic.

Good move for Rangers?

Absolutely, Kent is a talented player and can add to a position in the Light Blues side which is not exactly overwhelmed with top quality talent.

Harry Forrester has arrived back at Ibrox following a stint down south at AFC Wimbledon where he was in and out of the starting XI and it would mean that the 27-year-old would need to up his game to be considered by Gerrard, while fellow left-flanker Joe Dodoo failed to make a single appearance for the side last season.

Likely to happen?

The lure of Gerrard at the Scottish Premiership side will likely give the Gers a boost over their other rivals who are keen to capture the slight 5ft 6in winger (transfermarkt).

Leeds are also believed to be in the running for the player’s signature and may have the financial backing following their partnership with 49ers Enterprises but we think the Gerrard-effect will swing it the way of Rangers.
