Wolves have confirmed the signing of centre-forward Raul Jimenez from Benfica on a season-long loan deal, the club has revealed on their official Twitter channel and website.

The 27-year-old Mexican still has to wait for international clearances and a work permit but is the first new name to come through the doors at Molineux this summer and supporters could not be happier to hear the hitman has joined their club.

Jimenez’ arrival comes on the back of the various reports suggesting that they are set to sell Benik Afobe with the Stoke Sentinel suggesting a deal could be 24 hours away, despite only buying the forward on a permanent deal a little over a week ago.

The forward made a total of 33 appearances in the Portuguese Primeira Liga, scoring six and assisting a further seven to show he is just as much a team player as a goalscorer.

At 6ft 2in (source: transfermarkt), Jimenez is a combative forward who is not afraid of putting a challenge in and is sure to leave his mark on Premier League defences.

Fans are delighted to hear news of the player’s arrival at Molineux, but not content with one signing there was one asking that the club also announces Rui Patricio, the Portuguese keeper, who has been hotly linked with the club according to the Express and Star.

Here is a selection of reactions from the Wolves faithful on social media in response to the news:
