Newcastle United are in desperate need of some attacking reinforcements this summer, and they must hijack a reported loan swoop for Leicester City’s striker Ahmed Musa this summer.

The Magpies were severely lacking in any sort of cutting edge, with the likes of Dwight Gayle, Joselu and Musa’s fellow Leicester forward Islam Slimani failing to make the grade in the Premier League.

Turkish newspaper Takvim are claiming that after the Nigerian star, who is currently tearing it up at the World Cup in Russia for his country with two goals to secure a win over Iceland in his first start this summer, spent the second half of last season at CSKA Moscow, Galatasaray have tabled a £1.7million (€2million) bid to take him on loan next season.

It is said that newly promoted Wolves are also keen on extending his stay in England, but the speed machine, known for his electric pace both as a centre forward and down the wings, would be an ideal signing for Newcastle.

He might not have dazzled with the Foxes since his arrival but he has hardly been given a chance in the starting line up with Jamie Vardy’s form, and the competition was just too great for him to overcome.

At a price of £1.7million, Newcastle could grab hold of an international hitman for a bargain price, and if the 25-year-old is a success there could even be a purchase clause at the end of the loan spell.

Rafael Benitez has proven to get the best out of under-performing players – now it is time to work his magic on Musa.
