West Ham have joined Premier League rivals Everton and Leicester City in the hunt for Norwich City’s midfield goal machine James Maddison as they look to hijack the £25million hunt, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper claim on their website that the Irons are the latest club to chase the 21-year-old’s capture from the Canaries after his dazzling form in the Championship, where he netted 15 goals and chipped in with 11 assists from the centre of the midfield.

It is stated that Maddison will cost any potential suitor a fee of £25million and after watching his progress for some time, Manuel Pellegrini’s side are ready to make a move.

Good move for West Ham?

Absolutely, for whoever gets their hands on Maddison will have one of the brightest young talents as part of their squad.

The youngster has shown a brilliant nous for netting despite operating as a central or attacking midfielder but he is not a one trick pony and was still able to set his team mates for a handful of goals of their own.

Whether he has what it takes to succeed in the Premier League remains to be seen, while that £25million price tag is a daunting figure, but the Hammers can be confident that if they splash the cash it will be money well spent.

Likely to happen?

The amount of clubs involved in this battle means that Maddison’s future is still very much up in the air.

There is no determining who holds the most interest in his capture and whether anyone is willing to meet the Canaries’ asking price.

Still, West Ham need a new attacking midfielder after Manuel Lanzini’s bombshell, so a move should not be ruled out.
