West Ham have been in regular contact with the agent of Boca Juniors winger Cristian Pavon as they look to pounce on his capture this summer, according to Teamtalk.

The website report that the Hammers are keen on taking the dazzling  22-year-old attacker to east London but will face a patient wait, with his club hoping that his performances for Argentina, having already got five caps under his belt, at the World Cup will boost his price tag.

It is stated that the Hammers are hoping to use international team mate Manuel Lanzini to help persuade the diminutive 5’4″ (source: Transfermarkt) forward to link up at the London Stadium, having been Boca’s assist king with 17 goals set up for his team mates across all competitions last season.

Good move for West Ham?

Pavon will likely already be in much demand considering his dazzling form in his homeland, and Boca Juniors are right in waiting until after the World Cup to agree on any fee for his sale.

However, as talented as he is, the winger is not really the sort of signing that West Ham should be making a priority.

They already have a host of options in attack, international counterpart Lanzini included, while their back line, as well as between the sticks, is looking pretty vulnerable.

If West Ham can get their priorities sorted out and get some new recruits where it counts before the World Cup finishes, then a move for Pavon seems great, but he should not be taking all their time this summer.

Likely to happen?

It could all depend on how the World Cup goes.

West Ham are already in contact with his representatives but they will likely be one of many on a long list, and it only matters when the club finally deal with Boca Juniors.

A bad World Cup could leave the Hammers leading the charge, but an impressive outing in Russia would see a surge of interest to swamp Pellegrini’s hopes of capturing him.
