West Ham United are due to hold more talks with Lazio’s attacking midfielder Felipe Anderson on Thursday, as they close in on a deal for the forward, according to a Sky Sports journalist.

Kaveh Solhekol, a reliable reporter for the media outlet, and one who breaks news regularly on footballing matters, stated on his personal Twitter account that a transfer of the versatile Serie A attacker is close with a stunning£27million fee agreed for the player, with talks scheduled for Thursday (14 June).

The 25-year-old, who stands at 5’7″ (source: Transfermarkt) spent a great deal of the season sidelined through injury and did not return to the side until December when his impact on the team was apparent.

Anderson is under contract in Rome until 2020 which means the Hammers will have to cough up to land their target who will follow Ryan Fredericks through the arrival doors at the London Stadium.

Good move for West Ham?

This is a brilliant move for the Hammers and already shows the impact that new manager Manuel Pellegrini is having on the transfer front with the Chilean’s ability to attract some of the top names of the game –  and Anderson is one of those.

Following his come back into the Lazio XI, the 25-year-old was in sublime form, scoring four goals and assisting seven more in 21 appearances.

The attacker represents a huge upgrade compared to Michail Antonio who is average at best.

Likely to happen?

Solhekol is a man in the know and it could just be a matter of time before a transfer of Anderson is completed.

These are exciting times for the club following David Gold’s promise that more would be spent in this window than any before on talkSPORT radio, and upon the Brazilian’s arrival at the London Stadium, you would have to say that so far, he is keeping his word.
