It is said that every football player has his price, but that may not be entirely true when it comes to Tottenham.

Having gone from top six outsiders to top four mainstays under Mauricio Pochettino, Spurs have built up a squad of talented, hard working stars who have a good mix of youth and experience about them.

Their inexperience has been their undoing at times, notably in both the FA Cup and Champions League last season when they were knocked out by Manchester United and Juventus respectively, but such occasions will only help the young side next time around.

While the club do have world class talents at their disposal – such as Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen, there are still a number of first team stars who could be improved upon.

One such figure is right back Kieran Trippier.

The 5’7″ (source: Transfermarkt) speed machine is a dependable figure in Pochettino’s side, pulling off his defensive duties much more consistently than rival Serge Aurier, and even manages to pose an attacking threat with his dangerous crossing ability.

However, to say he was indispensable would be a massive overstatement – but that is what the latest report is saying.

The London Evening Standard claim that the Lilywhites are not willing to consider selling the 27-year-old this summer, despite Italian side Napoli chasing his capture, and that there is an improved contract, currently on £50,000-a-week, on the way.

Trippier’s exit might be a shock and a disappointment to some fans, but at what should be his prime, he is not a world beater by any stretch of the imagination, and is one area Spurs could do with improving.

If the right price came in, with a fee which would allow Pochettino to splash some cash on a quality replacement, then his sale should be given the green light – as much of a surprise as it may be.
