Steven Gerrard has completed his fourth signing as Rangers boss, as the club has announced on Thursday that midfielder Ovie Ejaria has joined on a season-long loan from Liverpool.

Rangers announced the news by means of their official Twitter account on Thursday afternoon:

Gerrard will see the Liverpool academy product move to Glasgow once the 20-year-old has international clearance to join up with his Rangers team-mates.

Ejaria is an exciting prospect and flashed during his spell at Sunderland during the second half of last season, making 11 appearances for the Black Cats.

The 20-year-old plays predominantly in midfield, but his dynamic skill-set allows him to play in a more advanced role also; making him an exciting addition for the Gers as they try to strengthen their squad.

OPINION

Ejaria is certainly one to watch for the coming season. The young starlet is one that new boss Gerrard knows well from his time in Liverpool’s academy setup, so the amalgamation could be an amicable one up in Glasgow. Ejaria was part of the World Cup winning England under-20 team, featuring throughout the tournament. Yet this is not the only meaningful first-team action the 20-year-old has earned; as he was selected 11 times by former Sunderland boss Chris Coleman during his six-month loan-spell on the Wearside. Gerrard has options concerning the upcoming talent, as his footballing ability allows him to play in a variety of roles for the Gers. It is unknown how much first-team action Ejaria will receive, but one positive is that Gerrard got the deal done so quickly, and Ejaria now has the entire Summer to meet up with his teammates and start to build some chemistry, should he be granted international clearance.
