Harry Kane is now in line for the Golden Boot at this summer’s World Cup after netting a hat-trick in England’s match against Panama – and Tottenham fans have gone crazy for the star striker after his performance.
Kane is now on five goals so far after two games, one more than Portugal’s Ronaldo, who is also a serious contender to take home the Golden Boot in this summer’s tournament.
The England captain was taken off in the second half to make way for Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy ahead of their final group clash against Belgium on Thursday (28 June), having already progressed to the round of 16 with one game to spare.
Match of the Day pundit Alan Shearer was amongst those who praised the Tottenham forward’s efforts this afternoon, expressing his excitement in a tweet:
What a finish @hkane! ? Great hat-trick ??????? That's when you get the sense it's your tournament! #ENGPAN #bbcWorldCup

England dominated the game with the Spurs attacker spearheading the strike force, netting a hat-trick as the Three Lions soared to a 6-1 victory over tournament debutants Panama.
The 24-year-old has made 25 appearances for the England side, scoring 15 goals since his debut in 2015 – and has now been selected as England’s captain, the youngest player to take on the role.
Here is a selection of tweets from Tottenham supporters reacting to their striker’s performance against Panama:
