Nottingham Forest supporters have been reacting on social media after hearing their club has had an £8million offer rejected by Middlesbrough for Patrick Bamford, according to The Mirror.
The report reveals that the Reds manager, Aitor Karanka, wants to link back up with a player he managed during his time at the Riverside Stadium and who he clearly rates.
Forest’s boss is keen on improving his attack line but it remains to be seen whether the 44-year-old will return with another bid.
The 13-goal forward came through the Forest youth system, leaving the club in 2012 to join Chelsea.
But like so many other youth players, it didn’t work out for him at Stamford Bridge and after taking full advantage of the loan system, he eventually signing permanently for Middlesbrough in January of last year.
The 24-year-old still has three years remaining on his contract on Teesside so the Reds will have to up the ante if they are going to stand a chance of signing the forward.
It would be a full transfer u-turn should Bamford return to his boyhood club, but it would appear that fans are as convinced as their manager that the 24-year-old is the right man to lead the line next season.
Here is a selection of Twitter reactions from supporters after hearing that the bid for Bamford has been rejected:

Patricio Bamfordio. Needs a decent run of games, with our supply line now. Would score loads. But 10mill is too expensive id say.
