Tottenham Hotspur will face competition from Everton to sign Inter Milan star Matias Vecino, reports Tuttosport.

The Italian news outlet report that, for all of Vecino’s successes last season, the Serie A giants would give the green light to sanction his exit this summer after his World Cup campaign with Uruguay, with the Toffees and Chelsea joining Spurs in the hunt.

Tottenham were linked with a move for the international star last season but failed to land his signature. Subsequently, the 26-year-old went on to have his best season yet, securing Champions League football for Inter Milan as well as making his World Cup debut.

The midfield ace could be a replacement for Mousa Dembele, who has been heavily linked with a move away from Spurs this summer.

Good move for Tottenham?

If the rumours are to be believed that Dembele is leaving Tottenham this summer, then Vecino is a worthy replacement for Mauricio Pochettino.

The 26-year-old has had a wonder season, forming an integral role to Inter’s domestic successes, as well as aiding his native Uruguay in the World Cup.

The midfielder was reported to have joined Inter for around £20.9million from Fiorentina, so Daniel Levy will have to part ways with a similar amount if he is to convince Inter to sell.

Likely to happen?

There are said to be a number of clubs interested in the Uruguayan’s signature, including Premier League rivals Everton.

Tottenham are the more appealing side, however, Everton might be able to offer a bigger squad role as could Spurs, and this could be a deciding factor.

The money is not likely to be an issue, as Spurs could lose a big earner in Dembele as a makeweight to facilitate the deal.
