A deal for Tottenham midfield starlet Noni Madueke is all but done as Eredivisie champions PSV Eindhoven secure his capture on a three-year deal, according to journalist Sjors van Veen.

The reporter for Dutch news outlet Ajax Showtime claims on his personal Twitter account that the title winners have secured a deal for the 16-year-old after he impressed for Spurs’ youth sides, while he has also picked up experience with England’s under-15 team.

Dutch publication ED claim on their website that a medical is already completed and that the young talent is keen on continuing his development in the Netherlands.

Opinion

It will come as a bitter blow that Tottenham are losing one of their bright youngsters to another club, but they can take some solace that he will not be coming back to bite them any time soon, leaving England and the Premier League with a trip over the North Sea to link up with the Dutch champions. If he did not see much of a future at Spurs, then Mauricio Pochettino needs to think whether that will cause other young talents to consider their future and seek moves elsewhere, although, with Harry Kane and Harry Winks just two names having made it through the youth ranks, the pathway from academy to first team is clear to see. In reality, this is likely just a one-off, and the majority of academy players will have their sights firmly set on breaking through the system and being one of the very few who actually forge a career at their boyhood club. Madueke might not be the next one to make that journey, but with Pochettino at the helm, a young talent is likely just around the corner to make that leap.
