Former Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko has claimed that Harry Kane should move to Real Madrid or Barcelona, should an offer come his way.

The former Russian international, who scored 21 goals for Spurs during his time in London, stated during the interview that it is normal to want to move to the big Spanish clubs.

“If Barcelona and Real Madrid call him, then yes, he has to go,” Pavlyuchenko told Goal.

“But, he must first know what he wants. It is certain that, if Barca and Real are present, then it’s normal to want to go there.”

Kane has been the subject of speculation linking the England international to the current Champions League winners, as his consistent dominating play at the top of Spurs’ line continues to impress.

However, it is Tottenham’s short-comings in European competition that leads Pavlyuchenko to believe that Kane may want to move in the future to a ‘bigger club’.

“Tottenham is a big club, but they don’t play in the final stages of the Champions League. If he wants to go even further, he must, of course, join a bigger club.”

OPINION

Harry Kane could be the World’s best striker, and he is destined to score goals wherever he plays. It is obvious that every player wants to win the biggest competitions, and Mauricio Pochettino’s men gave a good account of themselves during last year’s campaign, where they topped the group that held the eventual winners Real Madrid in it. Kane’s dedication to Tottenham has shown throughout the early stages of his career, as he had previously been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United, but he did not let that affect his gameplay, and I expect this season to be the same. The England captain has the World Cup to shine in, should he want to put himself in the shop window, but I expect his two ‘Golden Boot’ awards will clearly demonstrate that. If Real Madrid or Barcelona do come knocking on Spurs door, it will certainly be a challenge to keep him, as was the case with Gareth Bale. It could come down to player preference, but Tottenham are on the way to becoming a European contender themselves.
