Tottenham star Christan Eriksen would force a move away from the club this summer if Barcelona came calling, according to Don Balon.

The Spanish newspaper have reported that the midfielder maestro would be eager to quit Spurs this summer if European giants Barcelona stepped up their interest.

However, Barcelona will only pursue the Danish international if their deal for Antoine Griezmann falls through.

The publication also claim that the chance for Eriksen to move to Catalonia would be a once in a lifetime opportunity, despite the 26-year-old playing in a more advanced role.

OPINION

If Eriksen were to leave Spurs this summer, it would have to be to a top team like Barcelona or perhaps their big rivals Real Madrid. He is a vital asset to Pochettino’s squad, and if he were to force his way out like he claims he wants to, then it would be a huge gap to fill this summer. However, Barcelona’s top priority is the signing of Atletico Madrid star Griezmann, and the possibility of a move may not even be on the cards for Spurs’ attacking midfielder. If Eriksen really wants to leave, then he may need to find another club that would be interested in his services. Spurs would surely struggle to mount a serious title challenge if one of their star players was to head for the exit doors this summer. For the time being, Eriksen may need to stay put in North London as it seems no other club has registered their interest.
