Many Liverpool fans have been left raving on Twitter after their right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold started for England yesterday evening (28 June) in their final World Cup group match against Belgium.
The 19-year-old was picked by Gareth Southgate to play in his first ever World Cup game as England lost 1-0 to the Belgians, meaning they now face Colombia in the round of 16 after finishing second in the group.
The young ace also started in the Champions League final in May for Liverpool, whose supporters could not have been more pleased with his performance as he becomes a firm favourite among the Anfield faithful.

OPINION
Alexander-Arnold’s performance for England last night has certainly gone down a treat with the Liverpool faithful. Despite not being Southgate’s first choice right-back, Liverpool fans were quick to praise him even though he is only 19. The two-capped England international is invaluable to Liverpool and rightly so, and he has been rewarded with a World Cup game. England went on to eventually lose 1-0 to the Belgians, but the youngster gave his all and gave the manager reason enough to consider him more often in this tournament. The supporters are right to be proud of one of their star assets, who is only going to have a stellar season at Anfield next term.
