Real Madrid have made a sensational swap deal proposal to Liverpool for Sadio Mane, according to Diario Gol.

The Spanish outlet claim the Champions League winners club are offering £70.2million plus Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas for the Senegalese attacker.

The report states that new Real Madrid boss Julien Lopetegui is a big fan of the former Southampton winger and would be willing to offer the club’s first choice goalkeeper plus cash in exchange.

The 26-year-old enjoyed a stellar campaign for Jurgen Klopp’s side, as the Reds reached the Champions League Final and achieved a fourth-place finish in the Premier League.

OPINION

Sadio Mane was one of the most devastating attackers in European football last season, scoring 20 goals and contributing nine assists in all competitions last season, as they came so close to winning the Champions League, eventually losing to Real Madrid in the final. It’s not hard to see why the Spanish club would be interested in buying the Senegal international after he performed so well against them, and scored, on the biggest stage. Real are at a crossroads in terms of their attacking players, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema not getting any younger, and Gareth Bale seemingly out of favour, at some point they need to think about how they’re going to replace them. The 26-year-old would fit in well at the Bernabeu, adding real pace and energy to an ageing frontline, while Liverpool would welcome the arrival of Keylor Navas after their goalkeepers continue to disappoint. I suppose we’ll see if the Reds are really a selling club after all, after losing Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona in January, they may yet lose another one of their talents to a Spanish giant.
