Liverpool supporters on social media heaped praise on attacker Roberto Firmino after his performance for Brazil against Costa Rica in the World Cup.

The senior Reds player came on a substitute in the 68th minute when the score was 0-0 and helped his side achieve an important 2-0 win in the international tournament once he took the field.

Firmino linked up with former Reds midfielder Philippe Coutinho in order for Brazil to grab their first goal of the game, as Firmino headed the ball back across goal and Coutinho ended up blasting the ball into the net.

Upon seeing his impact from the bench supporters of Jurgen Klopp’s side took to Twitter to shower Firmino with praise.

One fan tweeted that the 26-year-old was the third best player in the world while another claimed they were still shocked that the attacker didn’t start for his nation.

Firmino featured 54 times across all competitions for the Reds in his 2017/18 campaign, racking up 27 goals and 17 assists during his outings.

The Brazilian, who is contracted to stay at Anfield until 2023, will be hoping his cameo appearances sees him start in Brazil’s third game of the World Cup which is against Serbia on Wednesday.
