Leeds United are in pursuit of Liverpool winger Ryan Kent on loan as they look to hijack a reunion with Steven Gerrard at Rangers this summer, according to Goal.

The football news website claim that the Reds are willing to offload a trio of their young wide men out on temporary deals this summer and that 21-year-old Kent, who has been out with Barnsley, Freiburg and most recently Bristol City in recent years, is being chased by both the Whites and the Gers.

The 5’6″ (source: Transfermarkt) is just one of a handful of Liverpool youngsters the Anfield icon is reportedly looking to reunite with at Ibrox this summer, but Leeds are also said to be hunting his capture, jeopardising Gerrard’s chances of a swoop.

Good move for Rangers/Leeds?

Kicking off with the Glasgow side, Gerrard will know exactly what Kent has to bring to the table and will be expecting immediate fireworks from the diminutive flyer.

He might not have been handed the expected game time at Bristol City, making six starts in 10 league outings, but with the Rangers boss seeking an improvement in attack, the youngster will offer at least decent back up, if not a dangerous threat in the starting XI.

As for Leeds, they might feel as though they have enough talent down the wings with the likes of Ezgjan Alioski and Kemar Roofe, but really another body in the squad would not hurt.

With 54 Championship experiences under his belt, there can be no doubting he knows the league, and were the new man in the Elland Road dugout willing to give him the chance to shine, he could do great things.

Likely to happen?

With Gerrard at the helm, fans can only think that the Light Blues will be leading the charge for the 21-year-old this summer.

Leeds might be able to offer a higher calibre of competition in the Championship but with no manager as yet appointed, and a disappointing campaign under their belts, Liverpool could be seeking a place where Kent can feel a sense of consistency.

A move to Ibrox seems likely, but in the unpredictable world that is football, never rule out Leeds dashing their hopes.
