Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino has confirmed he has told his Brazilian teammate Alisson that he should make the move to Anfield and be the new number one, as revealed to Sky Sports.

The news broadcaster quote the forward on their website as he stated that the 6″2 (source: Transfermarkt) colossus would be ideal for Liverpool given their goalkeeping situation, with the Reds already linked with a move for the 26-year-old Roma stopper.

“Sometimes I talk to him about it and have a joke with him, saying ‘you should come to Liverpool’,” he told Sky Sports.

“His agent is sorting his future but it wouldn’t be a bad thing to have him here at Liverpool.”

The Brazilian forward, who is on international duty with Alisson, came up against the shot stopper in Liverpool’s Champions League semi-final clash with the Serie A outfit.

OPINION

Liverpool appear to be linked with a number of goalkeepers in this summer transfer window, with boss Jurgen Klopp already in the hunt for Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak in a possible world record breaking deal. The Reds tried to sign the Brazilian stopper earlier in the 2017/2018 season, but have since turned their attention elsewhere. However, Allison would be a quality signing for the German manager, who needs a goalkeeper to replace the potentially unwanted Loris Karius. He would soon establish himself as a fan favourite just like his international teammate Firmino if he did make the move to Merseyside, having already proven himself at a top level with a club who finished third in Italy’s Serie A, as well as on the European stage in the Champions League. Firmino knows Allison very well, so the Liverpool fans would back him if one of their star strikers backed him too.
