Liverpool striker Danny Ings is likely to be bound for the Anfield exit this summer after being monitored by Premier League rivals Crystal Palace, according to the Times.

The newspaper reports on their website that the out-of-favour striker is heading out of Liverpool this summer amid interest from the South London club, along with the likes of Simon Mignolet and Ryan Kent set to join him as they search for new clubs.

The 25-year-old forward has only made eight Premier League appearances for the Reds during the 2017/2018 campaign, and has been relegated, along with Daniel Sturridge, down the striking pecking order with the likes of Mo Salah stealing the lime light as well as the league’s Golden Boot.

OPINION

Since joining from Burnley in 2015 for around £7.2 million, Ings has never really established himself under the management of Jurgen Klopp. With the likes of Mo Salah boasting a huge goal tally and Firmino and Sane playing alongside him, Ings will never really get a look in with the first-team. Leaving Liverpool will be the best choice to salvage his playing career and get regular match time without being upstaged by a world-class superstar like Salah. The 25-year-old attacker will be best suited to a top ten Premier League team, rather than a team like Liverpool, who are serious contenders for the title next season. His form certainly needs to improve, but he needs regular game time in order for that to happen. He has always struggled for goals, and being a former England international – for the time being – he needs to up his goal tally and prove to any potential suitors that he can score goals when it really counts.
