West Ham cannot afford to wait around any longer as it has emerged that Everton are also keen on reported target Toulouse defender Issa Diop.

A report in the Mirror claims that the Toffees are keen on taking the player to Goodison Park but unless the Hammers want to be drawn into a bidding war for the Ligue 1 ace, there is not a minute to waste in getting this deal over the line.

This comes after a deal in principle for the defender has already reportedly been agreed which is why the Hammers must act now and complete the transfer of the £25million giant.

With James Collins departing and Winston Reid a permanent sicknote, there is much need for a new centre back to come in at the London Stadium.

At 6ft 3in (source: Transfermarkt), Diop is exactly that kind of player that West Ham are crying out for at the back – physically intimidating, strong, commanding, and that’s before you look at his ability on the ball – he would be the perfect partner in the heart of the Irons defence alongside young revelation Declan Rice.

Having already signed Ryan Fredericks from Fulham earlier on in the window, and a deal for Lazio attacker Felipe Anderson potentially on the horizon, the West Ham board can make their supporters even happier by addressing their issues at the back and finalising the transfer of Diop to the London Stadium and not Goodison.
