A new manager often means fresh ideas and Everton will be hoping that is the case with the arrival of Marco Silva.

The Portuguese boss has taken over at Goodison Park months after being sacked by Watford – a move which the Hornets claim was as a result of the Toffees’ tapping up over the winter.

Sam Allardyce ended up getting the job on Merseyside but while he managed to rescue the club from a relegation battle, his style of football and approach to the fans left the Everton faithful fuming.

His unpopularity was without doubt a reason for his exit this summer and Silva, who was heralded for his work at Vicarage Road, will be expected to bring a much more exciting brand of football to the club.

One of his first jobs will have been to run the rule over the squad, and judge where needs strengthening and who to get rid of over the summer transfer window – and the future of Davy Klaassen looks bleak.

Sky Sports claim that Besiktas are keen on taking the Dutch maestro to Turkey on a loan move after flopping in England and becoming an outcast of the Everton first team.

The 25-year-old made just seven top flight appearances in a total of 16 outings, and he would likely not be missed by the Toffees fans, even if an exit after just 12 months is still something of a shock.

However, the Holland international is a proven game changer – 55 goals in 180 Ajax appearances, which includes 11 goals in 45 European games – both Europa League and Champions League – is not to be scoffed at, and with the new boss at the helm, he should most certainly be given a second chance.

With Silva in charge, things at Everton are changing, and Klaassen could be the man to stand out and shine.
