Nottingham Forest’s hopes of secure Hakeeb Adelakun have been boosted, as the winger has rejected a new deal at Scunthorpe, reports The Mirror.

The newspaper reported on their live transfer blog on Tuesday [06:19pm] that Forest have been keeping tabs on the 21-year-old, and will face competition to land his signature as Hull City are also keen on the attacker.

Adelakun joined Scunthorpe back in 2012 as a 16-year-old and has since gone on to make well over 130 appearances for the Iron.

Good move for Forest?

Definitely.

Adelakun is still a growing talent, with a history of Premier League Academy experience, so his addition would benefit the team greatly.

The 21-year-old was integral to Scunthorpe’s playoff run this season finishing fifth in League One, before being eventually beaten by the playoff promotion winners, Rotherham, 4-2.

The winger still has a lot of time on his side, and already boasts a lot of experience in the competitive SkyBet League One division, so there will be a chance for him to continue to grow at the City Ground.

Likely to happen?

One thing is certain, Adelakun is going to leave Scunthorpe.

The 21-year-old declined a contract extension for a reason, and circling teams can get excited about the prospect of signing him on a free transfer.

The level of play that the winger was able to demonstrate leads one to believe that he will have some success at the Championship level, helping Scunthorpe to fall short at the final hurdle.

There is an opportunity for Adelakun to make his name at the City ground, as the team is not stacked with attacking talent, and opportunities could befall the London born winger should a transfer go ahead.
