Young talents are often sent out on loan in a bid to give them the game time to boost their development at a level which will test them, and that was the case with Leeds United’s Lewie Coyle last season.

Now 22-years-old, the right back spent the last campaign out on a temporary deal with north west side Fleetwood Town in League One, dazzling in England’s third tier.

He was named both the club’s and the fans’ player of the year after his 48 appearances and six assists, and it should come as no surprise that the Fylde Coast outfit are said to be keen on reuniting with the defender next season with another loan.

The Yorkshire Evening Post claim that new Fleetwood boss Joey Barton is keen on taking Coyle back to play in front of the Cod Army once again, with Leeds said to be deciding whether he will be given the chance to play under Marcelo Bielsa.

With 23 first team appearances for the Whites, it is time that the 5’6″ (source: Transfermarkt) full back is given the green light to return to the senior side and battle it out with the likes of Gaetano Berardi and Luke Ayling for a role in the starting XI.

He is said to be highly rated at Elland Road and with the emergence of some other young talents last season, Coyle should be operating among the first team in the Championship, with a loan to League One unlikely to do his development any good right now.

Perhaps January will see him head out, if he fails to impose himself, but staying at Elland Road is best for both him and the club right now.
