Leeds United are set to offload Vurnon Anita this summer according to a report in the Yorkshire Evening Post, and supporters are thrilled to hear the news.
The 29-year-old has not exactly set Elland Road alight since his arrival at the club last summer on a free from Newcastle United, making a total of 18 appearances this season in the Championship, just 14 of which were from the starting line-up.
Now, according to the report, the Whites plan to sell the player once his recovery from an ankle injury is complete.
The former Dutch international arrived at the Yorkshire outfit amid hope that he would be experienced head in a young side and the linchpin in the centre of the park.
However, it has not worked out like that and after only a couple of appearances for Leeds in the left-back spot, he quickly found himself out of the side to the point where he is now looking likely to be moved on.
Fans of the club could not be less bothered about the reports if they tried.
One claimed that it was “awesome” news while others commented by saying they were happy to see the back of the versatile player.
