Wolves are reportedly in the hunt to sign Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland following his relegation from the Premier League and they should go all out to land his signature.

The Sun claims that the Championship title winners could be keen on signing the 25-year-old during the summer window, while Leicester City could enter the running.

It is understood Stoke want to recuperate £30million for his signature and that the England international is keen on remaining in the Premier League.

Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo needs to begin planning for the 2018/19 campaign, when his side will be competing in the top flight after ripping up England’s second-tier.

They have played a brilliant attacking style of football and were also defensively resilient for most part.

Goalkeeper John Ruddy kept an impressive 24 clean sheets in 46 games in all competitions for Wolves last season, but unfortunately they should drop him to the number two option with Butland a possibility.

Wolves need to make a few high-profile additions to equip them for the Premier League and adding Stoke’s proven talent would be a masterclass by the manager.

Butland may not have enjoyed his best campaign during Stoke’s relegation season, but he was not helped by a shaky backline and he still managed to pull of some eye-catching saves.

He is still relatively young in terms of a goalkeeper and still has the potential to be one of the best numbers ones in the top division.

The goalkeeper is in the running for England’s number one spot this summer at the World Cup and already has seven international caps at senior level.

Butland is a 6ft 4in (source: Transfermrkt) colossus that is a real physical presence in his penalty area and would be a great success if he switched to the Molineux next year.

It may seem a lot to fork out £30million for somebody after a shaky campaign, but he could be the first-choice option for Wolves to come when he regains his confidence.
