West Ham must make an ambitious swoop to sign Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy in the summer transfer window.

Co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold will certainly win the fans back if they manage to pull off an incredible deal to sign the 31-year-old England international, but they will have to move quick because he is reportedly going to be offered a new £120,000-a-week deal at the King Power.

The Times has claimed that Leicester have opened talks with Vardy over extending his contract by a further year.

His current agreement with the Foxes expires in 2020, but the East Midlands club want him to commit his future there until past his 34th birthday.

West Ham do have time to make a shock move though and offer Vardy the chance to move to the London Stadium as it is understood that his contract talks have been put on hold until after the World Cup.

That opens up a window for Sullivan and Gold to give Manuel Pellegrini the go-ahead to bid for the former Fleetwood and Halifax forward, who has been prolific in the Premier League over the last few seasons.

This term, Vardy scored 23 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions.

In contrast, West Ham’s top scorer Marko Arnautovic scored just 11.

The Hammers need a clinical finisher up front and Vardy, however ambitious it may be to sign him, is the exact man that they need.
