Liverpool have contacted Roma about the availability of goalkeeper Alisson but the Anfield club are yet to make an official approach for the 25-year-old, according to the Guardian.

The newspaper claims that Roma will demand £79million for the 6ft 3in Brazil international if they wish to cash in on him this summer, but given his contractual situation, the Italian giants are not under any pressure to sell.

it is understood that the Serie A club will offer Alisson a new deal worth £1.3million-a-year in order to extend his stay at the Stadio Olimpico, with Real Madrid also lining up a bid for the goalkeeping giant

Good move for Liverpool?

Alisson is one of the best goalkeepers in Europe and if Jurgen Klopp really wants to improve his goalkeeper options this summer, then he must really contemplate a record deal for a shot-stopper.

Lorius Karius’ performance against Real Madrid last week proved that Klopp has to splash the cash on that position and Alisson would be a brilliant addition.

He made 49 appearances in all competitions for Roma this term and kept 22 clean sheets in the process.

Adding him to the current Liverpool squad could be the difference between another barren year, or a maiden Premier League title.

Likely to happen?

Given Klopp’s reluctance to spend a lot of money on a goalkeeper in the past few years, it’s unlikely that he will break that trend to meet Roma’s valuation of Alisson.

The Brazil international is also subject of interest from Real Madrid, and if he had to choose on where his next destination would be, surely he would pick the European champions.
