Former Swansea manager Michael Laudrup is among the potential candidates to replace Paul Heckingbottom as Leeds United boss, according to Al Kass.

The Qatari broadcaster claimed on their official Twitter account on Tuesday that Danish manager Laudrup, 53, is in the running to be the next Whites boss after recently leaving Qatar Stars League outfit Al Rayyan.

Laudrup has been in Qatar since he was sacked by Swansea in 2014, managing Lekhwiya – where he won the Stars League title in 2014/15 – and Rayyan.

The European boss has also managed Getafe, Spartak Moscow and Mallorca after ending a stellar playing career that saw him play for Juventus, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Ajax.

Good move for Leeds?

Laudrup has been a bit of a journeyman in his managerial career, spending two years at each of his last three clubs.

He is known to have an exciting brand of football from his time at Swansea and given his links to some of Europe’s top clubs, he could be able to have some sway in the transfer market if Victor Orta looks to use his past connections to welcome some new players.

The Whites could definitely do worse than Laudrup, who has plenty of experience but is yet untested in the Championship.

Likely to happen?

It all comes down to Heckingbottom’s position at Elland Road, but that is looking more and more unstable by the day.

He is currently reported to be on holiday and will likely hold talks with Andrea Radrizzani on his return.

Laudrup is available and would surely jump at the chance to jump back into management in England.
