Tottenham are set to offload 12 of their fringe figures this summer as Mauricio Pochettino carries out a major cull of those outside the senior side, according to an insider.

Twitter account Lilywhite Rose, who have established themselves as a reputable source of inside knowledge surrounding the north London outfit, claim that a whole host of young stars are set for the exit over the coming weeks as they get released or sold, with the mass overhaul already underway with players joining other sides.

Keanen Bennetts has headed across Europe to German side Borussia Monchengladbach while Moroyin Omolabi has gone to Championship side Reading after Spurs cancelled his contract.

Of the dozen destined for the exit door, defender Anton Walkes, whose contract comes to an end next summer, is among the most high profile names, having turned out once for the senior side.

OPINION

Tottenham are not beating around the bush this summer and it looks like it could be all change below the senior side in north London. Spurs have established themselves as bringing some top talents through their youth system and as harsh as it might sound, they do not want to be wasting time on youngsters who are not going to make the grade. Very few of those destined for the exit door ever looked like breaking through and despite the big numbers on the way out, it will not be seen as much of a loss by Pochettino or the Spurs faithful. It just means that those remaining have more of a chance of breaking through and becoming the next Harry Kane or Harry Winks, and with hopes of a successful campaign on multiple fronts next season, those on the fringes could see some significant game time as the campaign rolls on. Pochettino will just be hoping that he has made the right decision about who stays and who goes.
