Motherwell have confirmed that Nadir Ciftci is due to return to Celtic in a matter of weeks when his loan deal at Fir Park officially expires.

The Steelman announced on their official website that Ciftci, 26, will not be kept at the club after a poor loan spell that saw him score just three goals in 15 appearances in all competitions since arriving on loan in January.

Ciftci spent the first half of the campaign south of the border at Plymouth Argyle, where he played just eight times without scoring before having his deal terminated in the winter.

Stephen Robinson then took a chance on the former Dundee United centre-back, but he has seriously failed at Fir Park as well as his career continues down this downward spiral which started when he first joined the Hoops in 2015.

Ciftci agreed a four-year deal and was bizarrely handed the number seven shirt three years ago.

He is in the final year of his contract now and as soon as he arrives back in Glasgow’s East End in early June, Brendan Rodgers must look to boot him straight back out the door.

Someone out there may want to spend a fee on the ex-Turkey youth international, but it may take a contract termination to finally get rid of him.

Celtic have too many players who are constantly loaned out without having any impact on the actual club that are contracted for.

Ciftci is one of them and Rodgers must ensure he is gone for good in the upcoming transfer window.
