Comedian Frankie Boyle has taken to Twitter to show his frustration about trying to watch the Scottish Cup final between Celtic and Motherwell without being distracted by the Royal wedding.

The Hoops will be hoping to wrap up a second domestic treble in a row later on Saturday, but around midday most of the nation stopped to watch Prince Harry and Meghan Markle get married at Windsor Castle.

Boyle posted a hilarious tweet to express his frustration over the abundance of Union flags around him as he tried to find a place to watch Brendan Rodgers’ side attempt to make history.

“My attempt to find somewhere to watch the Celtic game going reasonably badly,” he said on his personal Twitter account.

OPINION

Celtic are one the verge of history and only Stephen Robinson’s Motherwell are in their way. Many will suggest that Celtic’s achievements have only come about due to the lack of competition in Scottish football due to Rangers’ demise. However Brendan Rodgers is still pulling off what no manager has done in the last six years at Parkhead by winning the treble, not once, but twice. The Hoops’ performances have definitely got worse this season but at the same time, the club has gone further in Europe. After wrapping up what is basically a formality at Hampden Park, the work starts for next season, where the Bhoys must push to go further in Europe. They have to hope for a decent group and then attempt to achieve at least third place. If they fail to make the group stages of finish bottom of their group, that will be a failure and that could force Rodgers into considering if he can take the club any further. Noises down south grow ever-louder about Rodgers making a return to the Premier League. Maybe 2019/20 will be the season he does.
