Wolverhampton Wanderers youngster Cameron John is at the centre of a three-way battle for his services, according to the Daily Mail transfer blog (10.50am).

The report reveals that with the player’s contract due up at the end of next season, Brighton, Norwich and newly relegated Stoke City, are all interested in landing the defender.

It would appear that with the club on the verge on signing Wily Boly permanently following the Porto ace’s successful loan spell at Molineux, 18-year-old John could be surplus to requirements with more arrivals set to follow the Frenchman through the door.

John has caught the interest of the three following impressive displays in Wolves U23 set-up.

OPINION

It will be a shame to see one of their own leave the club, as the youngster has come through the ranks at Molineux. However, it is a signal of where the club is heading. Wolves want success and they want it now and with John unlikely to be a part of their plans for a couple more years yet, he is surplus to requirements. The West Midlands outfit have a lot of money at their disposal thanks to the arrival of Chinese conglomerate Fosun International and that is before you get to the influence that super-agent Jorge Mendes undoubtedly has on the incomings and outgoings at the club. Kids are not needed, they want the stars of today not the potentials of tomorrow and unfortunately for John, he falls into the latter category. Many will see the youngster leaving this summer – the only question would be which of the three would spell the best move for the centre-back.
