West Ham are on the verge of agreeing a deal to appoint Manuel Pellegrini as their next manager, according to Sky Sports News.

The broadcaster claimed on their official Twitter account that the Hammers are closing in on making the 64-year-old their next manager after David Moyes left the London Stadium earlier this week.

Pellegrini managed Manchester City between 2013 and 2016, winning one Premier League title and two League Cups in the process.

Good move for West Ham?

Pellegrini has a lot of experience and will be a really good appointment by West Ham, who have moved ultra-quick to replace Moyes after his contract expired on Monday.

The Chilean did well at Man City, winning the 2013/14 Premier League title while also boasting experience from some of big clubs such as  Real Madrid and Villarreal.

Pellegrini’s most recent job in China last two-years before he left earlier this year.

It’s not the most thrilling of appointments, but it’s a solid one that should see the club improve.

Likely to happen?

With Sky Sports reporting it, there’s a good chance that it’s now just a matter of when and not if Pellegrini will be the next West Ham manager.

When Slaven Bilic was sacked early in the season, co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan did not mess around in replacing him quickly as they hired Moyes within 24 hours to help avoid relegation.

Moyes did the minimum that was expected of him while surrounded by turmoil and he should be lauded for the job he did at the London Stadium in the end.

It seems that Pellegrini will be the man to build on that.
