Tottenham are considering offering midfielder Max Meyer a contract after his current FC Schalke 04 deal expires, according to The Gambling Times.

The betting news outlet claim that Spurs, along with Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United are all deciding whether to swoop for the 22-year-old central midfielder who is a free agent in the summer.

The Gambling Times report that Liverpool, Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, Monaco and even more unnamed European clubs are also going to attempt to battle for Meyer’s signature.

It is believed that the central midfielder currently finds himself banished to Schalke’s reserves as he has fallen out with the club’s management.

The central midfielder’s current Schalke contract expires at the end of the season, with him having been at the club since 2009.

Good move for Tottenham?

It would a sensational signing for Mauricio Pochettino’s side to make.

Meyer has earned four caps for Germany’s national team, which shows his ability to mix with the world’s best.

Germany always have plenty of talented players to pick from and while four doesn’t seem like a huge amount of appearances to brag about, having four caps at the age of 22-years-old when you’re German suggests you’re pretty special.

If Meyer rocked up at Spurs’ training ground after being successfully signed, Pochettino would be delighted by all the options the midfielder provides.

The 22-year-old is a natural with the ball at his feet and can make a great impact on games whether he is being utilised as an attacking or defensive option.

Likely to happen?

The competitions for Meyler’s signature is as intense as it could possibly be.

While the 22-year-old is unlikely to feature again this season, due to issues with management, that’s actually a blessing as other clubs won’t gain an interest in him

Meyler has already attracted enough admirers by impressing in the 28 appearances he has made this season, and Spurs can’t handle anyone else to battle with for him.

With The Gambling Times reporting that Spurs are only considering making a move, and given the interest in Meyer, they need to decide fast in order to offer him contract if they want any chance of signing him.
