There would be few people out there who would suggest that either Liverpool or Tottenham desperately needed improvements in attack.

The Premier League rivals might have come fourth and third respectively but they demonstrated some of the most exciting football not only on the domestic stage but against their European opposition, the Reds stumbling at the final hurdle in their hunt for Champions League glory.

Harry Kane, Mohamed Salah, Christian Eriksen, Roberto Firmino, Dele Alli and Sadio Mane are all among the best in their positions and there would only be a handful of stars who could rival them.

However, while Tottenham have the likes of Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela as back up, Liverpool are lacking somewhat when it comes to depth in attack, especially out on the wings.

Salah was forced off in the Champions League final and Adam Lallana, a man who has found himself used more as a central star, was forced out wide to take his position.

A winger is a must buy for Jurgen Klopp this summer, and hijacking one of Tottenham’s reported targets could give them a dream signing.

French news outlet RMC claim that Spurs are chasing Marseille winger Florian Thauvin after his stellar performances for the Ligue 1 side, stunning many with his exceptional return of 26 goals and 18 assists across all competitions.

Were he in the Premier League, that sort of record would be heralded, and it is the sort of display which had Newcastle believing they had snapped up a great deal only to see him flop in England.

A goal scoring winger who had disappointed in England once before – where have fans heard that before?

If Mohamed Salah can do it, so can Thauvin, and the 25-year-old would be a dream signing for Klopp this summer – either as back up, or a regular starter.
