After Reo Griffiths publicly declared on Instagram that he would be signing a contract soon, it is about time Tottenham pulled their fingers out and ended the speculation surrounding the talented forward’s future.

When the youngster was urged on Instagram by a follower and as captured by the Last Word on Spurs Twitter account to, “sign a pro contract,” the response was a firm, “I’ll be signing something soon, mate. Don’t worry about that.”

Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig have been joined by Barcelona in sniffing around the striker who has been ripping up the U18s Premier League with a whopping 23 goals in 18 games.

It is no wonder to see that the 17-year-old is being eyed by some of the biggest European sides but having already tied down Kyle Walker-Peters, Davinson Sanchez, and Cameron Carter-Vickers there had been concerns that after letting one of their brightest talents leave for Borussia Monchengladbach in Keanan Bennetts, Spurs will allow Griffiths to follow him out of the exit door.

However, while the youngster is seemingly hinting he will stay, in football things move fast and while there continues to be no done deal, should one of Europe’s big-guns come in and show their hand, the youngster could be tempted to ply his trade elsewhere.

At just 17, the forward has all the hallmarks of having what it takes to succeed in the elite game – Spurs cannot afford to let him go and must act now.
