Liverpool midfielder Emre Can has done everything but put pen to paper on a deal to move on a free transfer to Juventus this summer in what will be a bombshell for Jurgen Klopp, according to TuttoSport.

The Italian sport newspaper claim on their website that the 24-year-old’s move to the Italian heavyweights is ‘100%’ complete and all that awaits is official announcement.

Liverpool had allowed to let the German international, who stands at 6ft (source: Transfermarkt) to run down his contract in a hope to get him to commit his future at Anfield but losing him for nothing will be a major blow to the Reds after 166 appearances for the club, including 37 in the current campaign, scoring six goals.

Opinion

Losing the defensive midfielder for a free will be bitterly disappointing and there can only be personal reasons behind Can’s impending exit away to Italy. In terms of money, Liverpool are surely able to offer more than Juventus and while the Reds might not have been battling for a domestic title like the Old Lady were, only one of the clubs is in the Champions League final, and it is not the side from Turin. Perhaps he feels he will find more playing time at Juve but really, had he not been a contract rebel and kept everyone in the dark over his future plans, Klopp might have had more faith and played him more than the 37 times he featured over the past 12 months. Still, having featured in seven of the Champions League matches he will go down as a champion of Europe if the Reds see off Real Madrid, and that is not a bad accolade to have on his CV.
