Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has told Daniel Levy not to be worried over the sensational deals he tries to pull off both in and out of the club with a summer of mega spending ahead, according to the London Evening Standard.

The capital-based newspaper claim that the Lilywhites’ chairman and part-owner will hand the Argentine boss, who put pen to paper over a new long term deal on Thursday, a £100million transfer kitty to spend this summer, which could well be doubled through the sale of players.

However, in his bid to sign a centre back, a central midfield and a striker, Pochettino is said to have lined up stunning swap deals involving the likes of Moussa Sissoko to get his top targets, and that he has insisted Levy does not lose faith over the sales of senior stars Mousa Dembele, Toby Alderweireld and Danny Rose – some of which could be used to bring players in from buying clubs.

Opinion

Pochettino’s new contract shows both a sign of faith from the boss in the club’s plans as well as Levy trusting the Argentine to lead Spurs to the success that they crave. For years the project has been all about building and improving but now is the time that push comes to shove and they take that big step to the next level – which means some serious cash to splash in the transfer market. The aim is to be competing with the big boys at the very top of the Premier League table and while Levy would love to give Pochettino the sort of money they have at their fingertips, there is only so much he can offer, especially with the cost of the new stadium. It means that Spurs fans might have to have faith in the club when they are waving goodbye to some firm favourites, and know that their exits are being carried out in the best interests of the side. Whether the gamble pays off, only time will tell, but for now it is time for the Lilywhite faithful to get excited about a summer of spending.
