Aston Villa on loan striker Lewis Grabban has given an update on whether or not his future remains at Villa Park, admitting that it is “in the air.”

The striker who joined from Bournemouth via Sunderland where despite battling with relegation was prolific, scoring 12 in 20 games, is unable to say where he will be plying his trade next season.

Steve Bruce was reluctant to throw the 30-year-old into the side following Grabban’s arrival from the Black Cats, but once he was unleashed into the side the Villans have never looked back.

The hitman has continued his rich vein of goalscoring form, finding the back of the net on eight occasions in 17 outings.

As quoted in the Birmingham Mail, the dazzling forward who still has one year remaining on his contract at Villa Park delivered his update on his future, stating that nothing is set in stone: “I can’t really comment on what the future is going to hold.

“I have enjoyed my time here and we will see what happens in the summer. I still have another year at Bournemouth.

“It is pretty much in the air. I have enjoyed it here and hopefully it can be a success.”

OPINION:

It seems strange that someone who is obviously as talented as Grabban is, has never managed to become a bigger name in the game and how his future is still unclear. Why do Bournemouth clearly not rate the hitman? For a player to not just score one or two goals in a struggling team such as Sunderland’s was but to bang them into the back of the net with a ratio that bettered a goal every other game is frankly astonishing and maybe leads to question marks surrounding his attitude and commitment. Nonetheless, his ability to find the back of the net is apparent and will be tested in the upcoming Championship final against Fulham on Saturday – that is, as long as Steve Bruce shows faith in the forward by selecting him for the clash. Should the Villa boss opt against playing his eight goal hitman for the fixture, it will perhaps signal that Grabban’s time at the Birmingham club is nearing its end.
