Newcastle United fans on social media destroyed attacker Ayoze Perez for his performance against Watford on Saturday.
The Magpies slumped to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of the Hornets at Vicarage Road, with several players receiving criticism for their displays from supporters on Twitter.
However a large majority of fans opted to call out Perez for his efforts during the defeat, with several mystified that this was the same player who was in tremendous form mere games ago.
Magpies supporters even opted to slam Perez, even though he got a goal on Saturday.
One supporter stated that the 24-year-old was now back to his best as he was constantly falling over and giving the ball away, while another asked why the secondary striker couldn’t make a simple pass.
Those comments were relatively kind compared to the tweet by one Magpies supporter, who questioned whether Perez was colour blind as he kept misplacing passes and labelled his performance poor.
The Magpies attacker has regularly featured in Rafa Benitez’s side this season, making 35 appearances across all competitions, and according to The Sun is a firm favourite of the Newcastle manager.
The Spanish manager’s decision to involve Perez on a regular basis seemed to be the right decision ahead of the Watford game, as the attacker had scored three goals in his last five league outings.
