Newcastle United have confirmed that on-loan striker Islam Slimani will miss the rest of the season after being charged with violent conduct, and fans have taken to Twitter to bid him good riddance.
The 29-year-old forward, who joined the club from Leicester on a temporary deal in January, kicked out at West Bromwich Albion defender Craig Dawson during their 1-0 loss to the Baggies at the weekend.
The striker was retrospectively charged with violent conduct, and the FA have now confirmed that he has been slapped with the standard three-game ban.
The Magpies announced the news on their official website on Thursday, with the club revealing that Slimani argued to the FA that the ban was excessive, an appeal which was thrown out by an Independent Regulatory Commission.
The suspension now means that Slimani may well have played his last game for the club, with his loan deal set to expire at the end of their season in three games time.
At the moment it looks unlikely that the Magpies will look to make his deal permanent, with the Algeria international having played just four games for the club since January.
Newcastle next face an away clash against Watford this weekend, before ending with two tough games against Tottenham and Chelsea.
